And while local publications like to bring their best, there’s hardly a spirit of competition at the fair. It’s common to see sellers exchanging books and swapping stories. The atmosphere is friendly—a genuine vibe of community is palpable. “When I started in 2009, I found so much support,” says Cameron Anstee of Apt 9 Press. “There’s a lot of room to do something and really carve out a niche for yourself.”
